Different Ways to Improve Your Memory

Ever since I entered college, I have been obsessed with improving memory. You see, I am pretty intelligent, but my memory has never matched my other intellectual skills. Normally, as soon as I finish studying for a test, I forget the information.

If I am determined enough, I can keep it in to my mind for as long as it takes to pass the exam, but for no longer. Unfortunately, in college there is much more material to memorize than there ever was before.

I barely made it through my first semester because I kept forgetting facts. I feared that if I didn't find a way to improve memory, I would probably fail a few classes. That was definitely something I did not want to do.

There are all kinds of different ways to improve your memory – so many that it is hard to remember all of them! Basically, they all break down into a few simple categories. You can improve memory through supplements, through mental exercises, and through self hypnosis.

Many people start with supplements because they promise to improve memory with no work on your part. Unfortunately, they rarely deliver. I know that I was unable to improve my memory by taking these pills. All I did was waste money that I could have spent on memory improvement books.

Those books were quite a bit more successful. Although they take a long time to improve memory, they do eventually work. They have a lot of interesting techniques in them based on the way that memory works.

If you can list things in different ways in your head, you can take advantage of the way that memory tends to group multiple pieces of data together. For example, if you can remember facts in chunks of three or four together, you can fit much more into your brain at once. The techniques are explained in simple ways that allow you to practice them over and over again until you get them right.

Although these books don't deliver on improving your memory overnight like they say they will, they still do help in the long run.
Of course, the most novel way to improve working memory is through self hypnosis. A lot of companies sell hypnosis tapes they claim will help you improve memory by reprogramming your brain To function in a more efficient way.

This is almost entirely nonsense. Although in theory hypnosis works, in practice you would be much better to work on improving short term memory through exercises. Watch this space as I will conclude on this article....

What With Higher Education!

I had not planned on going on to get a graduate degree. Living in California higher education was not on the top of my list of priorities. You see, there are so many opportunities in California even if you don't have a higher education.

There is Hollywood, there is the environmental non profit community, there are opportunities for starting your own tourism business, high-tech business, or restaurant. California really is the land of opportunity, So I had no intention of spending all of my time cooped up in school......
It isn't that higher education California isn't good – it is.

California schools are among the best in the nation. Both California public universities and private schools are amazing. The UC system is so good that there is almost no point in going to a private university in California, and if you are a resident there, you can get significant deductions from your tuition.

Even still, I didn't think that higher education in California was for me. I was sure that I would get that big break if I waited for it. I worked hard in my office, day in and day out, knowing that I was enjoying living in the real world more than I would enjoy chasing after a higher education California degree.

Now, I realize how silly I was being. I had not thought about all of the higher education employment opportunities that there were, but there were many of them. With higher education California, I would be able to make more money, have an easier life, and have more options available to me.

Maybe California was the land of opportunity, but many of the opportunities were in academia. I decided to pursue higher education California By going back to get my Masters of arts. I wanted to be a writer, and I new higher education California would help me with that goal.

Looking back, I wonder why it took me so long to take advantage of the higher education California had to offer me. I guess I wasn't thinking clearly at the time. I was so busy enjoying myself that I never thought about where the real opportunities lay.

With higher education California, I will be able to get a job at one of the University of California schools one day. I will be able to live my dreams, living easily and spending all my time writing and teaching. I can't think of a sweeter life!

Fitness and Your Health!!

You wouldn't know it by looking at Americans, but life is much more enjoyable if you're healthy and in good shape. What; you don't believe me? Okay, allow me to elaborate. When you're in great shape, you're able to function easier. This is because your body is carrying around less fat and your heart is in better condition.

Not to mention the fact that you'll feel much more confident if you're in great shape. You'll take pride in your appearance and not struggle to hide your flabby thighs or pooch belly. So, now you're probably ready to get started. Okay, let's talk fitness exercise routines and healthy diets.

There's no big secret that eating right is crucial if you plan on living long and staying healthy. This does not only concern the well-being of your body, but it includes your mind as well. Poor diet can have a terrible effect on your mind. What you need to focus on is low-fat foods that are high in nutritional value. Avoid fatty meats and processed foods like chips and microwave dinners.

To keep things simple, you want meals that have little sodium, saturated fat, and sugar. Water should be the main beverage you consume. Then there's the fitness exercise aspect.
Eating healthy is awesome, but if you want to get that body conditioned, then you have to adopt a fitness exercise routine that works for you. If you're currently overweight, then you should probably begin with cardio exercises.

Try an elliptical machine, tread mill, jogging around your neighborhood, and plenty of crunches. It's good to mix up your exercises, because this keeps the body guessing. This way your muscles don't get too used to the routine. Cardio is your best bet for burning calories.
Once you get down to the weight you prefer, you can add a few strength training fitness exercise regimens. The reason this is better left until after your weight is down, basically concerns weight gain.

As you build muscle with weight training, you'll naturally gain weight. This makes losing weight confusing for some.

Corporate social responsibility has been one of the most problematic and troubling factors of business management since almost the very beginning of the corporation. Social responsibility corporate used to be a very simple thing, but it is no longer so. In the beginning, corporate charters were extremely simple.

You would charter a corporation for one task – say, to build a bridge. That corporation would have the right to perform that one task and no further tasks. Back then, socially responsible corporations were the rule rather than the exception. Because they had such limited power, they would be forced to stay within the law.

Nowadays, corporate strategy is the main concern. Corporations social responsibility always takes a back seat. You see, it comes down to this: competition is the bottom line. A socially responsible corporation will, in general, be at a disadvantage when compared to one that is more ruthless. This is why, as citizens and as business people, we have to do everything that we can to keep corporations socially responsible.

Otherwise, the disturbing trend of corporate corruption will continue and even get worse. As corporations get bigger and globalization takes off, corporate responsibility is vastly becoming one of the greatest concerns of the 21st century.
Environmental corporate social responsibility is one of the areas that have been most problematic. Since the beginning of the industrial age, and perhaps even before, corporate social responsibility with regard to the environment has been abysmal. Nowadays, fortunately, there are signs of hope.

New government laws to protect the environment, as well as consumer watchdog groups help enforce corporate social responsibility with regard to health and environmental concerns. The popularity of green products, as well as organic foodstuffs, has made corporate social responsibility much more profitable in some areas. Hopefully, this trend will continue.
Unfortunately, some social issues are not improving. Corporate social responsibility with regards to workers rights has never been good, and it is only getting worse with globalization. Stress is a condition we can all relate to in an everyday sense. There is stress all around us, in the work place, at home and in emotional contexts.
